The company was founded in 1983 and quickly established itself as one of the leading rubber underlay manufacturers in Europe. The products were synonymous with luxury and quality. Purchased by British Vita in 1989, the company soon began to develop new and innovative products. Ball and Young now produce a comprehensive range of carpet underlays to suit all types of locations.

The new and innovative Cloud 9 range was launched in 1995, a light but very durable underlay, it was voted the No1 underlay by the UK carpet trade in 1998. In 1999 Cloud 9 was selected by the Design Council to become a Millennium product. A comprehensive range now covers all domestic and contract installations.

The Royal Leader range is a collection of traditional rubber underlays with waffle profiles for domestic and commercial use. The Triple 8 range covers locations where flame retardancy of the highest specification is required. For installations covering Marine work, Hotels, Hospitals and other public buildings.

Cush 'n' Wood a 4 mm dense flat Underlay designed for use under solid and laminate floors. Ball & Young's portfolio is made complete with a range of commercial and domestic Metal Edgings in both polished aluminium and enhanced simbrass finishes; A range of Adhesives and Tackifiers for double-stick underlays and Carpet Gripper to suit all sub-floors.
