Latex Foam

Vita Talalay® is a registered trademark for the latex foams produced by Radium Foam by means of the unique Talalay process. The most important characteristic of latex is its durability. Mattresses, cushions, chairs, couches etc., whose main component is latex, retain their comfort, shape and elasticity even after many years of intensive use.

It is easy to cut and can be combined with other materials to increase their comfort. Products can therefore be tailored to meet the client's individual specifications.

Talalay Process:

Filling
The basic foam is cast into an aluminium mould, which is only partially filled. The aluminium mould is closed and a vacuum is created. This ensures optimal distribution of the foam in the mould.
Advantages: homogenous end product; depending on the filling level, any type of foam rubber can be manufactured, from very soft to very hard; creation of round cells, ensuring greater load bearing capacities and better physical characteristics.

Freezing
The foam is frozen to -30 degrees Centigrade.
Advantages: preservations of the round cell structure; cells are interconnected, ensuring a high degree of permeability.

Gelling
Gelling is done by means of a harmless CO2 air mixture.
Advantages: absence of gelling or blowing agents such as CFC's which are harmful for or the environment.

Prevulcanization

Prevulcanization is done in the mould at 115 degrees Centigrade.
Advantages: the foam takes on a fixed shape and can be removed from the mould easily.

Washing
Talalay foam can also be washed during the production process.
Advantages durability is increased by curbing loss of hardness.

Drying and Postvulcanization
During this stage the foam acquires its actual characteristics. These depend on the raw materials used, the composition of the mixture and the process parameters.
